Fresher’s Fair is the prime time of the year to promote your organisation directly to both new and existing students at the University of Bolton.  With lots of new students moving away from home for the first time, effective advertising can make a lasting impression and develop long term brand awareness.  Our Fresher’s Fair is the focal point of the student calendar; it is an enjoyable event for both students and exhibitors and provides an exclusive opportunity to meet your target audience face to face.  

We have a diverse range of commercial organisations taking part, both local and national, giving away freebies, samples and promotional material, so why not join them?  This is a unique opportunity not to be missed.

 Academic Year Planner 

Our Academic Year Planner is very popular with students, and gives clients a permanent presence in the day to day lives of our students.  Often placed in communal areas, clients are likely to reach many more than one student per product unit. This is a highly effective medium and provides a constant reminder to the students of your brand.

Calendars are distributed during enrolment and Fresher’s Fair and are available to pick up from the Students’ Union office.   This year the Union will be distributing 2,000 calendars.

 If you wish to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity, your artwork needs to be returned to us by email (info@ubsu.org.uk) no later than Friday 27^th July 2012. 

Your artwork will need to be in a jpeg format and can be either of the two dimensions below.

Freshers Welcome Bags

During the enrolment period the Students’ Union will distribute 1,500 Fresher’s Welcome Bags to new students which will contain Fresher’s related information and samples.  

A number of commercial inserts are added to this bag each year. This early contact guarantees immediate impact and high levels of interest. Demand for this type of advertising is high, so the number of inserts into the bag is strictly limited.

Promotional items and samples can be placed in the Fresher’s Welcome Bag free of charge subject to them being considered suitable. The filling of these bags is carried out on-site and is closely supervised to ensure the highest quality standard for every bag.  The deadline for delivery of leaflets/samples to the Students’ Union is Friday 17^th August  2012.

Housing and homelessness charity Shelter is calling on all Greater Manchester residents who rent their homes from a private landlord to attend a meeting to campaign to improve their housing rights.

The meeting is at 6pm on Thursday 24 May at Tameside Volunteer Centre, 95-97 Penny Meadow, Ashton-under-Lyne, OL6 6EP.

The group aims to support tenants and provide them with vital information and a platform to share ideas. The group will also campaign against rogue landlords and for better housing rights for private tenants.

 The right candidate will receive full training and support from the Students’ Union along with an incentive package worth up to £400.00

Customers of Bolton Market can now save money each time they make a purchase at selected stalls at the market. Just pay for things in the normal way, e.g. cash, and hand over your Bolton Market Loyalty card. They will do the rest.

10% reward every time you spend

At the end of each week, the total amount of all of your Bolton Market purchases are added up and 10% cashback loyalty reward is added to your account ready for you to collect the next time you visit the market. How do I get a Bolton Market Loyalty card?

You can get a loyalty card from the Customer Service office at the Market. Each card costs £2 but once registered online with sQuid, £2 will be added to the Bolton Market purse for you to collect the next time you visit.

Your card has two separate purses on it

When you register your card you will notice that you have two separate purses attached to your sQuid account.

1.  sQuid purse to pay for small value items

You cannot pay with sQuid at Bolton Market. Yet. You can however use the ‘Pay with sQuid’ purse on your card to pay for small value items instead of using cash at other locations in Bolton. Click here to find out where.

2.  Your Bolton Market Loyalty purse

This purse will record and show the purchases you have made at Bolton Market that qualify for loyalty reward. It will also show you your loyalty balance and when and where you made each purchase.

Login to your account to:
- Check your balance at any time
- View your transactions to check your rewards
- Update your details and preferences

 Spending your Bolton Market loyalty reward

Once you have at least £5 on your loyalty purse…
…you can then use your loyalty purse to pay for items at participating stall holders. Just let them know that you would like to pay using your loyalty card and make sure you have at least £5 on your card loyalty balance.
