Sabbatical Officers

Welcome to the University of Bolton and specifically the Students' Union.

For those of you who don't know me, I served as the Students' Union President last year, and was re-elected to serve the student body again this year. Over the past year I gained a lot of knowledge into how the SU and the University works, and intend to use this knowledge to benefit the student body. I will continue with my open door policy to students, so please don't hesitate to call in, whatever the reason and have a chat. 

The student body is a powerful group and together we can be the driving force behind decisions made rather than the University making decisions without much thought to how students will be affected.

Leona Melling - Vice-President (Open-Portfolio)

Hi there, I am one of your two Vice-Presidents. During my year in office, I want to try and make the Students' Union more interactive and accessible to students. I do not see a Sabbatical's role as being 9 to 5 but 24/7.   I intend to be a visible presence within the University and my door will always be open to you. 

I previously worked at the Students' Union LOFT bar, and have interacted with students and, along with my own experience as a student, I feel I understand your views and needs, and will do my very best to sort out any problem you may have.

I want to create more diverse student entertainments which will cater for all students here at Bolton, so if you have any ideas, feel free to call into the SU and have a chat.

Hello, everyone, my name is Rob Church and I am your new Vice-President (Open-Portfolio). I am a BA (HONS) Business Studies graduate, a proud member of the up and coming Students' Union Radio Bolton (SURB) and was a valued employee of the SU Bar.

This is the first year of having the role of Vice-President (Open-Portfolio) here at the University of Bolton, but my second year as an elected Sabbatical Officer.   My role for this year is to represent every student within the university on academic issues of any kind, and at a variety of levels within and outside of the University.I'm here to help assist along with the rest of the Students' Union Team in providing the best for you, the Students, in the forthcoming academic year.

SURB – Students' Union Radio Bolton - I aim to promote and use SURB to have a positive influence in your lives. I want to encourage students to participate in the various events and activities the Union will host and I will not only reinforce the Union's current open-door policy, but expand it further, creating a more face-familiar impact and interactive approach with you.

I understand that students are the hub of the University and how every student is different, holds many different desires, wants and needs. I will do my best to cater for everyone, in the words of the Students' Union motto; I will endeavor to "enhance the student experience".

Call into the Students' Union anytime my door is always open, I would like to hear your opinions on any issues, and hopefully make your year at Bolton enjoyable.
