Vice-President Open Portfolio

The responsibilities of the Union President are as follows:

1. To be the responsible officer of the Union, and be accountable to the Governors for the activities of the Union, and for the use of its funds.
2. To be responsible for the preparation of the Union's budget.
3. To co-ordinate all Union expenditure.
4. To have ultimate responsibility for the staff employed by the Union.
5. To act as the Union representative in any negotiations with the Union's staff.
6. To represent the Union on external bodies and committees, official functions and public occasions.
7. To ensure that the senate, as individuals and as a body, are functioning properly.
8. To act as sole Press Officer for the Union or to nominate someone else to do so.
9. To be nominated to serve on the Governors and University Senate and any Sub-Committee thereof.
10. To be responsible for ensuring that a course representative system is in place and effective.
11.  To be responsible for the liaison and work with NUS.
12. To be an ex officio delegate to NUS Conference and to act as the delegation leader or nominate somebody to act as delegation leader.
13. To be responsible for the Union Media, both the radio station and the newspaper.  
14. To chair and prepare the agenda for the Senate Meetings.
15. To be responsible, with the Vice-Presidents Open Portfolio for the creation and distribution of publicity for social events.
16. To co-ordinate with the Vice-Presidents Open Portfolio, the publication of a Union handbook to be issued to all students when they join the Union.
17. To control and co-ordinate the running of the Union's commercial services.
18. To carry out other tasks and duties as assigned by the Senate.
19. To be an ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees, therefore taking the responsibility of a Trustee.
20. To be responsible for the liaision and work with NUSSL.

The responsibilities for the Vice Presidents Open Portfolio are as follows:- Remit to be determined by the Board of Trustees whilst considering the priorities of the Students' Union over the next 12 months. To carry out other tasks and duties as assigned by the Senate. To publicise and promote Union policies in conjunction with the rest of the Senate. 6 Non-Sabbatical Open Portfolio Positions   The responsibilities of the Non-Sabbatical Officers Open Portfolio Remit to be determined by the Board of Trustees whilst considering the priorities of the Students' Union over the next 12 months.
